Chinese Space Potatoes! The Chinese government has developed a new variety of potato by taking seeds into space and exposing them to cosmic radiation. You could do the same thing with an x-ray machine, or nuclear reactor, or just a bunch of radioactive material. But then they wouldn't have the name "Chinese Space Potatoes," which sounds like a second-rate garage band.
